How to Import Interactive Brokers Trades into AllInvestView

Follow these simple steps to export your Interactive Brokers trading history and import it into AllInvestView for comprehensive portfolio tracking, tax reporting, and analytics.

Auto-Sync Available

Interactive Brokers also supports automatic portfolio sync via SnapTrade integration. Set up auto-sync instead

Step 1: Export Your Interactive Brokers Trading History

  1. Log in to Client Portal at portal.interactivebrokers.com.
  2. Go to Performance & Reports → Statements for a one-off, or Performance & Reports → Flex Queries for a reusable custom report.
  3. For most people: run an Activity Statement, set the period (max one year per file) and choose CSV.
  4. For full control: build an Activity Flex Query and tick the Trades, Dividends and Cash Transactions sections, output format CSV.
  5. Run the report and download the CSV.

Which export to pick: Activity Statement is the quick path and works out of the box. An Activity Flex Query is worth setting up once if you want trades, dividends and cash in one tailored file — it lets you pick individual fields, whereas the Activity Statement only includes or excludes whole sections.

What each column means

  • SymbolA plain ticker for stocks; an option shows as "FAKE 26APR2026 200 C" (underlying, expiry, strike, put/call). The importer parses the contract details.
  • QuantityPositive to open or increase a long, negative to sell or close. Option quantities are in contracts.
  • Proceeds / BasisCash in/out and cost basis for the row, in the trade currency.
  • CodeIBKR trade codes: O = opening, C = closing, A = assignment, Ex = exercise. The importer uses these to link option lifecycle events.

Step 2: Import into AllInvestView

  1. Go to AllInvestView Import Tool (or click Import from your dashboard)
  2. Drag and drop your Interactive Brokers CSV file, or click to browse
  3. AllInvestView automatically detects the Interactive Brokers format and maps all columns
  4. Review the imported trades and confirm — your Interactive Brokers portfolio is now tracked!

What Happens After You Upload

You never import blind. After AllInvestView detects the Interactive Brokers format, it shows a review screen where every row is grouped, editable and confirmed by you before anything is saved:

Trades Dividends Cash Options
  • GroupedRows are sorted into buys/sells, dividends, cash movements and options so you can see exactly what will be booked.
  • EditableFix a currency, quantity or date inline before confirming — nothing is written until you approve the batch.
  • De-duplicatedRe-upload an overlapping export and AllInvestView skips rows it has already imported, so you can safely import year-by-year files without creating duplicate trades.

Interactive Brokers Gotchas & How We Handle Them

Auto-handled Check on review Needs your action

Two report types both work

Auto-handled

Both the Activity Statement CSV and an Activity Flex Query CSV are recognised, with or without a leading header row.

Multi-currency by design

Auto-handled

IBKR accounts trade many currencies. Each row keeps its native trade currency; the importer converts to your base currency for reporting rather than flattening the file.

Options import with full contract detail

Auto-handled

Option rows carry strike, expiry and put/call, and opening and closing legs are linked via the Code column so your option P&L is correct.

Futures may need a manual touch

Check on review

Futures and some complex instruments vary in how IBKR reports them. If a futures row does not resolve, adjust it on the review screen before confirming.
