Can I import years of history from a CSV or a statement?

Yes. Dated trades load however far back they go, and there is no cut-off date on what you can bring in.

That history is the point: without the early trades a return figure is an opinion, and a tax report has no cost to work from.

A file that needs your eye on it opens as a review table first, so you see what will be saved before it is.
