Is the broker connection read only?

Yes. Connections are opened in read mode, and nothing here can place an order, move money or change anything at your broker.

What comes across is what you would see on your own statement: the positions, the trades behind them, the cash and the dividends.

You can drop a connection whenever you want, and the history that already came in stays with you.
