Yes. Set an earlier date and the whole account is rebuilt as it stood that day, from the transactions recorded up to it.
Holdings, weights, cash, bonds, options and property all go back with it, so you get the position you actually held rather than today's holdings priced in the past.
It is the quickest way to settle what you owned at a year end, which is usually a tax question or an argument with a statement.
