How the Products Differ
M1 is a brokerage. AllInvestView is a portfolio tracker. Some features overlap, but the products do different jobs.
M1 Finance
US brokerage with automated rebalancing via custom "Pies" allocation, fractional shares, and commission-free trading. Custodies your assets and executes trades.
AllInvestView
FeaturedMulti-broker portfolio tracker with read-only sync from 30+ brokers, plus bond analytics, options Greeks, an AI assistant and capital-gains rules for fourteen countries.
What M1 Finance Offers
M1's signature feature is "Pies" – a target-allocation-as-portfolio model where you set percentages and M1 buys fractional shares to maintain those weights automatically.
Where M1 Finance Works Well
- Commission-free trading with fractional shares
- Automated rebalancing via Pies allocation model
- Customizable portfolio templates from M1 community
- Combined banking, investing, borrowing in one app
- A $3 monthly platform fee that disappears at $10,000 in M1 balances
What M1 Finance does not cover
- US-only – not available outside the United States
- Only tracks M1's own custodied accounts – no aggregation from other brokers
- Performance reported over preset windows rather than a chosen date range
- No options trading or options Greeks
- No bond yield-to-maturity or duration calculations
- No choice of cost-basis method: Invest accounts use M1's own Lot Relief Method, crypto is FIFO
- No individual bonds, no options, and no choice of cost-basis method
What AllInvestView Adds
AllInvestView complements M1 (or replaces it for non-US users) with multi-broker aggregation and the analytics M1 doesn't provide.

- Tax reports across borders: Capital gains calculations cover fourteen national rule sets.
- Bond mathematics: Prices individual bonds off the government yield curve, with YTM, modified duration, convexity, accrued interest and a bond ladder.
- Options Greeks: Delta, Gamma, Theta, Vega, Rho. Multi-leg payoff diagrams.
- Multi-currency: Native currency per holding, historical FX at trade date for accurate tax cost basis.
- Advanced analytics: Monte Carlo simulation, Efficient Frontier, Value at Risk, Sharpe/Sortino, benchmark comparison.
- AI portfolio assistant: natural-language queries about your holdings.
- Lifetime payment option: $497 one-time, no recurring fees.

CSV downloads cover account activity, holdings and realised gains. M1 Intelligence researches securities and summarises your performance and dividends without changing the account. AllInvestView adds:
- Monte Carlo simulation for retirement / goal planning
- Efficient Frontier (Markowitz mean-variance optimization)
- Value at Risk (VaR) calculations
- Correlation matrix and diversification heatmap
- Sharpe Ratio, Sortino Ratio, Alpha, Beta vs benchmark

- Dividend forecasting with five projection methods, per-payer growth rates and withholding
- Broker files can be reconciled against booked history, so missing records and differences are identified
Inside AllInvestView
Exporting your M1 data
M1 lets you download account activity, holdings and realised gains as CSV files from the web app. Statements, trade confirmations and tax documents are available for the last three years. Support can provide older files. Each export uses M1's own column names.
CSV, XLSX and pasted spreadsheet rows preserve M1 history without requiring its column names to change. The example is a semicolon-separated statement with German headers, a layout nobody wrote a parser for: eight valid trades with every instrument identified.
AllInvestView
One total across all your accounts
M1 reports on what M1 custodies. Transfers in through ACAT and rollovers are documented, but held-away account viewing is not. The balance and return cover only your M1 Pies.
The allocation and current value you inspect in M1 also appear here across every account you load, whichever broker each one came from and whatever currency it trades in. A specific past day recomputes the total balance, return, internal rate of return, dividends banked by then, and every position at the weight it held, using stored daily prices. You do not need a saved snapshot.
AllInvestView
Return between any two days you choose
M1's performance view is built on preset windows: a day, a week, a year. That suits how the product is used, since a Pie is a target you set once and auto-invest keeps it near those weights. For a tax year or strategy change, you may need exact start and end dates.
Any custom period covers every portfolio loaded. The banner names the window it is reporting on. Under it, the same period has figures for IRR, capital gain and dividend yield. The money-weighted IRR accounts for contributions and withdrawals inside the window. The example covers 1 January through 31 December 2025.
AllInvestView
Tax forms and cost basis methods
M1 issues a consolidated 1099 at year end, gathering the 1099-B, DIV, INT and MISC forms, with a 1099-R for IRA distributions. That is the paperwork a US filer needs and it turns up without being asked for. M1 assigns the matching method instead: its Lot Relief Method applies to standard Invest accounts, while crypto uses first in first out. Neither is a setting the account holder can change.
This report recomputes disposals from the trade history instead. FIFO, LIFO, HIFO and average cost are run together and set beside each other with the estimated tax each produces. The chosen jurisdiction supplies the rates. Realised tax comes from closed disposals. The open positions have dashes in Tax Owed and estimates under If sold. You can export the report as PDF, Excel or CSV.
AllInvestView
Bond funds, and actual bonds
Fixed income at M1 means a bond ETF held inside a Pie and quoted like any other line in it. Treasuries and bond funds are supported that way. An individual bond bought elsewhere is a different object: its market quote is thin, often stale, and sometimes nowhere at all.
AllInvestView stores the coupon, maturity and ISIN. It finds the spread implied over the government curve for that currency and uses it for later valuations. Five currencies have a curve, the dollar one sourced from the Treasury. The row shown has a broker price of 99.75, a 4.72% yield to maturity and 98 basis points of spread. The panel also gives convexity, modified duration, current yield, accrued interest and the benchmark. A bond does not consume any of the ten holdings the free tier allows, so a ladder can be built and priced before there is a subscription.
AllInvestView
Options outside M1
M1 states this one itself: mutual funds and options trading are not supported. If you trade options elsewhere, M1 does not track their strikes, expiries, premiums or assignments.
AllInvestView stores each contract with a strike, an expiry and a live mark. Eleven supported structures include bull and bear spreads, the straddle and strangle pairs, an iron condor, and the covered call taken through to a wheel. Butterflies and lone legs are not offered. The theoretical price follows the underlying. Every open position shows its delta, its gamma, its theta and its vega, and the book has a single rho. In this example, the dashboard detects a wheel, totals daily theta and scores closed trades. It also shows the remaining expiries on a timeline. Contracts fall outside the free holding allowance in the same way bonds do.

Combine M1 With Your Other Accounts
AllInvestView aggregates holdings from M1 (via CSV import) plus 30+ other brokers (auto-sync), with tax reports, options Greeks, bond analytics, and AI assistant on top.
Which service to choose
AllInvestView covers the tracking you use M1 for: allocation, value, performance and dividend income are visible across M1 and every other account you add.
You can measure performance between two dates and see the account as it looked before. Capital gains reports cover fourteen country rule sets.
The same account can track individual bonds, option contracts, crypto and property. M1 is still needed if you want a US brokerage to execute Pie rebalancing.
Questions Answered
Is AllInvestView a brokerage like M1 Finance?
No. AllInvestView tracks and analyzes portfolios through read-only broker connections, but does not hold assets or execute trades. M1 Finance is a US brokerage that holds assets and executes trades.
Can I track my M1 Finance account in AllInvestView?
Download account activity, holdings and realised gains as CSV from the M1 web app. Those files can become transaction history with performance, capital gains reports and dividend forecasts in AllInvestView.
Does M1 Finance work outside the United States?
No. M1 Finance is US-only. AllInvestView supports investors globally with broker connections across the US, UK, Europe, Canada, Australia and Asia.
What does M1 cost now that M1 Plus is gone?
M1 Plus was retired in 2024 and its perks became standard for every M1 user on 15 May 2024. M1 now charges a $3 monthly platform fee, waived in any billing cycle where M1 balances reach $10,000 for at least one day or an M1 personal loan is open. Margin is quoted at 5.65% and the cash account at 3.10% APY. AllInvestView Advanced costs $143.88/year and adds country-specific capital gains reports, option Greeks and bonds priced off the government yield curve.
Does AllInvestView have automated rebalancing like M1?
AllInvestView shows allocation drift versus your target weights and recommends specific rebalancing trades, but it does not execute trades (it's a tracker, not a broker). You execute the trades manually in your broker's interface.
M1 Finance alternative for non-US investors?
M1 Finance is US-only. AllInvestView supports multiple currencies, broker connections across several countries and capital gains rules for fourteen countries.
