Sharesight vs AllInvestView: Tax Reporting, Imports and Pricing

Sharesight earned its reputation among Australian and New Zealand investors through solid broker integrations and localized tax features. AllInvestView arrived with broader ambitions–covering every asset class from government bonds to options contracts while serving investors across multiple countries. This analysis breaks down where each platform excels and where it falls short. A wider shortlist lives in the Sharesight alternatives roundup.

What AllInvestView Adds

AllInvestView addresses gaps in existing trackers, particularly around asset diversity and import flexibility.

Notable Capabilities

  • Options analytics: Tracks calls, puts and multi-leg strategies with Delta, Gamma, Theta, Vega and a theoretical price that moves with the underlying.
  • Bond mathematics: Computes yield-to-maturity, modified duration, and convexity. Tracks coupon schedules and accrued interest between payments.
  • Flexible file import: Broker files in unfamiliar layouts retain dates, instruments, quantities and prices.
  • Broker connections: Holdings arrive overnight from accounts at Interactive Brokers, Charles Schwab, Fidelity, Public, Wealthsimple, and others.
  • Tax across borders: Pre-configured rules for 14+ jurisdictions. Australia, US, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Ireland, Sweden, Switzerland, and more.
  • Question answering: Built-in AI assistant responds to natural language queries about your holdings.
  • Single payment option: Lifetime deal eliminates ongoing subscription fees.

Options traders note: Sharesight does not track options. AllInvestView records them with strike, expiry and Greeks.

Equities and Funds
Both platforms

Stocks and ETFs are managed on both. Sharesight pulls trades automatically from supported ANZ brokers; AllInvestView reads CSV and spreadsheet layouts and also connects supported broker accounts directly.

SharesightPartial

SharesightNot supported

Tax Reporting Depth

Tax features often determine which tracker investors adopt.

SharesightPartial
  • Australian CGT reports with 50% discount calculation
  • New Zealand tax support
  • UK capital gains tracking
  • Income from dividends reporting
  • Unrealized gain summaries
AllInvestViewFull
  • Country coverage: US, UK, Australia, Canada, Germany, Denmark, Spain, France, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Sweden, Switzerland, and beyond
  • Basis calculation options: FIFO, LIFO, Average Cost Basis, Specific Identification
  • Bracket-aware calculations: Progressive tax rates applied with itemized breakdown
  • Long-term discounts: Australian 50% discount applied automatically for qualifying holdings
  • Disallowed loss rules: Wash sale window configurable per jurisdiction
  • Multi-year tracking: Loss carryforward with annual deduction limits
  • Output formats: PDF summaries, Excel workbooks, raw CSV data

Cross-border investors: Holding positions across multiple countries means managing different tax rules. AllInvestView handles this natively; Sharesight requires supplementary tools or manual work.

Getting Your Data In

SharesightPartial

Automatic email confirmations work with many ANZ brokers, so those trades appear without manual effort. Other brokers require CSV uploads in specific formats, or manual transaction entry.

AllInvestViewFull
  • Live broker connections: Accounts at Interactive Brokers, Schwab, Fidelity, Public, Wealthsimple and others refresh nightly.
  • Unfamiliar file layouts: CSV columns in any order can become transaction history.
  • Recognized exports: Files from more than 50 broker and tracker sources retain their history.
  • Recurring file sources: A custom layout remains usable for later exports from the same source.

Inside AllInvestView

Bond pricing and analytics

Sharesight prices fixed income it can see on an exchange it covers, and the ASX, NZX, LSE and US venues. Anything else becomes a Custom Investment with a manual price. You must update that price yourself. It feeds both the portfolio total and the capital gains report.

AllInvestView stores the bond's ISIN, maturity and coupon. It uses the government yield curve for that currency to calculate a price. The implied spread is used for later valuations. The report lists accrued interest, spread in basis points, current yield, yield to maturity, convexity and duration. The row also names its Treasury benchmark. Dollar, euro, sterling, Canadian and Australian bonds all price this way.

Options tracking

Sharesight does not cover derivatives, and the community answer for an option is the same Custom Investment used for unlisted holdings. A contract recorded that way has no strike, expiry or Greeks. It cannot record an assignment, roll or expiry. Premium appears only as a cash movement.

In AllInvestView, each call or put is its own instrument. Eleven multi-leg structures include the four verticals, straddles and strangles in both directions, the iron condor, the covered call and the wheel. Each contract is repriced as the market moves. Rolls, expiries and exercises remain linked to the resulting share trade. The portfolio totals daily theta and delta. It also shows win rate and places expiries on a timeline.

Imported history reconciled to the account

Sharesight shipped a beta importer in May 2026 that extracts trade data from files, so an unfamiliar broker statement stops being a manual retype.

Comparing statements with connected positions exposes missing trades and quantity or price differences in the portfolio record. Trade history can also come from a typed sentence, pasted table or statement photo. Realized gains and dividends remain traceable to the trades behind them, and this help is on the free plan rather than the top tier.

Fund holdings and overlap

Sharesight Exposure Report lists the companies inside your ETFs and finds names held by two funds. Starter covers the top 50 constituents and higher tiers cover up to 500. It does not include Australian unlisted managed funds or funds domiciled in Great Britain, Ireland or Luxembourg, which is where most of a European portfolio of ETFs is registered. Those stay one line.

Portfolio X-Ray in AllInvestView opens whatever it has constituent data for and returns one row per company. It combines direct shares with exposure inside each fund. This example uses three ETFs and two direct positions. It shows the largest underlying holdings, top-five concentration, duplicate ownership and 126 companies found in at least two funds.

Importing your history

A Sharesight account exports through the Tax tab: the All Trades Report over a date range, then Export and Spreadsheet, which produces .xlsx. Cash account transactions come out separately from the Cash Account page. There is no CSV button. The community request for one is still open, so the workbook must be converted for CSV use.

That conversion step is not needed here. An unfamiliar semicolon-separated file with German headers reading Datum, Produkt, ISIN, Boerse and Anzahl, and no template anywhere for it. Eight rows valid and every ISIN resolved to a named instrument. Cost basis is rebuilt from the trades themselves, which is why the full history matters more than a list of current positions.

Your portfolio on 31 December

Both products can show past results. Sharesight has an as-at date on the portfolio page and a Historical Cost Report. Its Multi-Period Report compares up to five periods. It shows total return, capital gain, payout gain and currency gain. Either tool can show what a year returned.

AllInvestView applies the past date to the whole dashboard. It shows balances, total return, IRR and dividends on that date. The allocation also uses each holding's weight from that day. A custom period reports what happened strictly between them, with an IRR, a capital gain and a dividend yield measured over that window alone.

What It Costs

Sharesight pricing structure:

  • Free: Up to 10 holdings, 1 portfolio
  • Starter ($9.33/month, or $7 billed annually): 30 holdings
  • Standard ($24/month, or $18 billed annually): unlimited holdings, 4 portfolios
  • Premium ($31/month, or $23.25 billed annually): unlimited holdings, 10 portfolios

A 100-position portfolio needs Sharesight's unlimited Premium tier–roughly $279–$372 a year depending on whether you pay annually or monthly. Over five years, that's well over $1,400.

AllInvestView pricing structure:

  • Plans from $6.99/month, with a 14-day free trial on every paid plan
  • The Advanced tier–Monte Carlo simulation, VaR, options Greeks, and unlimited holdings–is $11.99/month billed annually
  • Lifetime Deal: one-time $497 for permanent Advanced access, no recurring charges (pay by card or crypto)

Every paid plan is backed by a 14-day money-back guarantee, even after the trial ends.

Long-term calculation: Sharesight's unlimited Premium tier runs $279–$372/year depending on billing. After a few years, AllInvestView's lifetime option becomes the economically rational choice.

Which tracker to choose

AllInvestView covers the portfolio record you use Sharesight for:

  • Everything the Sharesight subscription is for: capital gains per lot, franking carried through ASX dividends, DRP, the full payment record and automatic broker connections
  • Then further out: fourteen jurisdictions with the rules already written, FIFO, LIFO, HIFO and average cost priced against the same year, and the account restated to a day you name
  • And the rest of the portfolio in the same place: bonds with real yield mathematics, options with Greeks, real estate, and Modelo 720 for Spanish filers

Sharesight keeps its long-standing focus on Australian and New Zealand tax systems, and several brokers name it in their own third-party access lists.

Questions Answered

Can Sharesight track my options trades?

No. Sharesight does not track options. AllInvestView records option contracts with current Delta, Gamma, Theta and Vega.

Yes. AllInvestView handles Australian capital gains, including the 50% discount for assets held longer than 12 months, plus rules for thirteen other countries.

Which platform costs less for long-term use?

AllInvestView has a one-time lifetime option. Sharesight's unlimited Premium plan is $23.25 to $31 a month, or $279 to $372 a year depending on billing.

How do I transfer from Sharesight to AllInvestView?

Run the All Trades Report over the full date range and export the spreadsheet. That workbook can rebuild the transaction history and cost basis in AllInvestView.
