About Koyfin

Koyfin is a research terminal for people who read markets for a living or want to: global fundamentals, macro series, estimates, screeners and dashboards you build yourself.

Who it suits: Investors who research in Koyfin and want their actual holdings kept as a proper record.

What it does well
Research Data
Koyfin carries global fundamentals, estimates and macro series at a depth built for reading markets, not for tracking a portfolio.
Dashboards
Its charting and configurable dashboards are the reason people pay for it, and they hold up against far more expensive terminals.
Screening
Unlimited watchlists and screens from the Plus plan, across a global company universe.
Before you decide
How the holdings get in
My Portfolio takes a ticker or ISIN with quantity, cost and purchase date, typed in or uploaded as CSV. Direct broker and custodian connections belong to Client Portfolios on the advisor tiers. Work out which of those you are buying.
What the analytics cost
The Koyfin free plan carries portfolio tools, and the deeper My Portfolio analytics sit on Premium at $79 a month. Worth pricing against what you want it for.
Where the tax figure comes from
Research platforms rarely produce a capital gains report, because it needs every disposal matched to its purchase lot under your country rules. If you file on your investments, decide now which tool is responsible for that number.
Everything that is not a listed equity
Bonds, option contracts and property need their own treatment, not a ticker row with a price attached. Check that before you split your holdings across two places.
What it costs: Free plan; Plus $39/month, Premium $79/month, advisor tiers from $209/month

Our pick, and why

Our pick
#1 Koyfin Alternative

AllInvestView

Portfolio tracking, analysis and tax reports

Your broker keeps the portfolio filled in, and December produces a gains figure instead of an evening with a spreadsheet.

Our take: Keep Koyfin for research. Nothing here competes with its fundamentals, estimates or macro coverage, and the dashboards are worth the subscription on their own. Bring the holdings you actually own into AllInvestView, where the broker sends the trades itself, each lot keeps its cost basis, every distribution is logged at the amount that actually landed, and the year finishes with a gains figure shaped to where you file.

Where that shows up against Koyfin
Broker Sync
Connected brokers send their own trade history on the ordinary paid plans, not only the advisor tiers.
Realized Gains
Every disposal keeps its buy date, sell date, cost basis and proceeds, so realized and unrealized stay separate.
Tax Reports
A filing-ready gains figure under your own jurisdiction, with four cost-basis methods priced against each other.
Bonds and Options
Bonds price off the government curve with yield, duration and spread; options carry strike, expiry and the Greeks.
Price
Portfolio analytics and broker sync start at $6.99 a month rather than $79.
The broker fills it in for you

Rather than typing holdings or maintaining a CSV, connect the account and the broker sends its own history: every buy and sell with date, price, quantity, fees and currency. New trades sync every night.

That distinction matters more than it sounds. A trade feed rebuilds cost basis from what you actually paid across every lot. A holdings list gives you a starting value and loses everything you already sold.

A file being checked before import, with its columns matched and its instruments resolved AllInvestView
Where the feed stops, a file picks up: this one arrived in an unfamiliar layout and still parsed, 8 rows clean and every instrument resolved. Sample file, caught at the review step.

A capital gains report for your country

Each sale in the tax year is reported on its own row, carrying the date it was bought, the date it went, what it cost, what it fetched and the resulting gain. Positions you still hold appear in the same place, with an estimate of the bill if you closed them before the year turns.

The same year is recalculated four ways so the cost-basis methods can be compared side by side. Currency is split per lot, with the buy and the sell rate both shown, which is how you find out whether a dollar holding actually gained anything in euros. It leaves as PDF, Excel or CSV.

A capital gains report with a jurisdiction selected, listing gain and tax owed per position AllInvestView
Jurisdiction and period set as controls, and the consequences worked out holding by holding: the gain, the tax attached to it, the cost of closing it now.

Bonds and options priced, not listed

Give a bond its ISIN, maturity and coupon and it gets valued against the government curve in its own currency rather than sitting at whatever you typed. What comes back is the analytics a fixed income holder expects: redemption and current yield, accrued interest, duration and convexity, plus the basis points of spread against the benchmark it names.

Options keep strike, expiry and the Greeks, with eleven strategy templates, rolling, assignment and a wheel tracker. Both roll into the same portfolio total as the equities, rather than living in a separate file.

An expanded fixed income row with redemption yield, benchmark spread, duration and convexity AllInvestView
A single position expanded: 4.72% to redemption, 98 basis points over its US Treasury benchmark, and the duration, convexity and accrued interest beside it.

Bringing your holdings across

A Koyfin portfolio was built from a CSV or typed in, so the same rows come straight over. For the trades behind them, the broker is the better source.

  1. My Portfolio exports to CSV, and that file imports directly with its ticker or ISIN, quantity, cost and purchase date.
  2. Connect the broker as well and the trades it reports come in too, including ones from before the Koyfin portfolio existed.
  3. Layouts nobody standardised, rows lifted out of a PDF, a photo of a contract note: all of it can be read into trades rather than copied across by hand.
  4. Anything genuinely stubborn can go to support, who will do the mapping and hand it back reconciled.
Open the magic import
Help with your portfolio, from a person

Questions go to a person who opens your actual account, which matters most on the boring problems: a position that will not tie out against the broker, a file that imported oddly, a gains figure you want a second pair of eyes on before it goes to the tax office. Rated 4.5 on Trustpilot across 33 reviews.

Questions people ask about Koyfin

Can I use Koyfin and AllInvestView together?

That is the usual arrangement. Research and screening stay in Koyfin; the positions you actually hold become a record here, with cost basis, dividends and a tax figure.

Does Koyfin connect to my broker?

Not on an individual plan. Those custodian integrations are part of Client Portfolios, which is an advisor product. My Portfolio itself is filled in manually or from a CSV.

Does Koyfin connect to my broker?

On the individual plans, no. My Portfolio takes holdings typed in or uploaded as CSV carrying the identifier, size, cost and date of purchase. The custodian integrations are part of Client Portfolios, an advisor product starting at $209 a month. Broker sync here comes with the ordinary paid plans.

Will I lose Koyfin's research if I track my portfolio elsewhere?

No, and you should not try to replace it. Koyfin is a research terminal and this is a portfolio record. Most people who use both keep screening and reading in Koyfin and let the holdings they actually own live here, where the broker keeps them current.

Can I get a capital gains report out of my holdings?

Yes, and it is built per lot rather than from an average. Each disposal keeps its own buy and sell date, cost basis and proceeds, under the rule set for your country. The same year can be recalculated across four cost-basis methods so you can see what each one would cost, and it exports as PDF, Excel or CSV.

I hold bonds and options as well. Do those work?

They have their own records. Bonds are priced off the government curve for their currency and report yield to maturity, duration, convexity and the spread over a named benchmark. Options carry strike, expiry and the Greeks, with strategy templates, rolling and assignment. Both count in the portfolio total.

What does the free plan include?

One portfolio holding ten equity positions, at no cost and with no trial period attached. Fixed income, options and custom assets sit outside that count, so a bond ladder does not spend your ten. Tax reporting and the assistant are both in the free tier. Paid plans raise the cap and add the broker connections, the deeper analytics and the fund look-through.

Koyfin has been building since 2016 and is the rare research tool that holds its own against terminals costing many times more. The free plan carries two years of financials, two watchlists and two screens. Plus is $39 a month for ten years of financials and estimates, ETF holdings and unlimited screens. Premium is $79 and adds the deeper My Portfolio analytics. The advisor tiers run from $209 and are where the custodian integrations live. Annual billing saves up to 30%. If you read markets seriously it earns its place, and nothing here is trying to replace it. For the side-by-side detail, read Koyfin vs AllInvestView.
