What Fidelity does well

What people like about Fidelity, and why they stay.

Zero-fee index funds (FZROX, FZILX); literally 0.00% expense ratio.

Research and screener tools included free for all account holders.

Commission-free trading on stocks, ETFs, and options (no per-contract fee).

Retirement planning with 401(k) administration and HSA accounts.

Fractional shares (Stocks by the Slice) starting at $1.

The gap

What your broker leaves to you

Your broker is built for trading. The return, the tax figure and the view across accounts are what you get here.

The Fidelity account reports each account, but not one result for brokerage, workplace and retirement assets.

Choose any start and end date. The dashboard recalculates capital gain, IRR and dividend yield for that period.

Fidelity keeps Individual and 529 Plan among its 10 account types with Stocks and Crypto among 7 asset types in USD. Holdings at another broker are outside that total.

Add the other accounts. The combined view totals them while keeping each account separate.

Fidelity statements cover Stocks, ETFs, Options, Bonds, Mutual Funds, CDs and Crypto in USD for Individual and 529 Plan. They do not compare tax lots under several cost-basis methods.

The tax report calculates gains with FIFO, LIFO, HIFO or average cost.

Trace dividend income from payment to forecast

Fidelity investors who reinvest distributions can receive many small dividend payments over time.

The report totals gross, withheld and net dividend income. It also shows payment history by company and a 12-month forecast.

See what sits inside your funds

Several Fidelity funds can own the same large companies without showing that overlap on the surface.

Portfolio X-Ray opens each fund and combines repeated underlying holdings. It shows overlap and concentration across the portfolio.

Getting started

Getting your Fidelity history in

1

Export from Fidelity

In AllInvestView, open Sync Brokers and choose Fidelity. Complete the read-only connection.

2

Upload it

The importer reads the column layout on its own, identifies the securities and shows you every row before anything is saved.

3

Read your portfolio

Prices update daily, and dividends, corporate actions and splits are applied to the history you just brought in. Nothing else to keep up to date by hand.

Questions

Fidelity and AllInvestView, answered

Can I automatically sync my Fidelity accounts with AllInvestView?
The read-only connection is direct, not an aggregator. It imports positions and trades but cannot place orders or move money.
Does AllInvestView track Fidelity mutual funds and ZERO index funds?
Imported fund and fractional transactions stay with their purchase dates and quantities. They feed return, allocation and tax lots.
Can I see my Fidelity 401(k) alongside my other investments?
Add each account separately. The combined view totals them while the account filters keep their results apart.
Is the Fidelity connection read only, and is it an aggregator?
The connection to Fidelity is read only. It can see positions and transactions, and it can never place an order or move money. It is a direct broker connection, not a service that logs in with your password on your behalf. Broker sync is part of the paid plans. On the free plan you import a file instead.
Does it show my options with Greeks?
Yes. Every open contract is listed with delta, gamma, theta, vega and rho, next to the price of its underlying, with the premium collected and the days left to expiry.
Which cost basis methods can I choose?
FIFO, LIFO, HIFO and average cost. You pick the method on the tax report and the whole report is recalculated, so you can see what each one would cost you before you sell.
How are several currencies handled?
Each position keeps the currency it was bought in. The portfolio is then valued in the base currency you choose, using the rate for the day, so the currency move is part of the return you read.
Can I bring years of history from a file?
Yes. Export the full transaction history from Fidelity and upload it. The importer reads the column layout, identifies the securities and shows every row for review before anything is saved, so your cost basis and your returns start from the complete record rather than from today.
What does the free plan cover?
One portfolio and 10 stock holdings, with no card. Bonds, options and custom assets are not counted against that. Broker sync, more portfolios and more holdings are on the paid plans.
