The gap

What your broker leaves to you

Your broker is built for trading. The return, the tax figure and the view across accounts are what you get here.

The Questrade account reports Canadian and US holdings, not the combined return after CAD and USD move.

Choose any start and end date. The dashboard recalculates capital gain, IRR and dividend yield for that period.

Questrade keeps Individual and Corporate among its 7 account types with Stocks and Forex among 6 asset types in CAD and USD. Holdings at another broker are outside that total.

Add the other accounts. The combined view totals them while keeping each account separate.

Questrade statements cover Stocks, ETFs, Options, Bonds, Mutual Funds and Forex in CAD and USD for Individual and Corporate. They do not compare tax lots under several cost-basis methods.

The tax report calculates gains with FIFO, LIFO, HIFO or average cost.

1

Export from Questrade

The importer reads the column layout on its own, identifies the securities and shows you every row before anything is saved.

Questions

Questrade and AllInvestView, answered

Can I automatically sync my Questrade accounts with AllInvestView?
This account uses file import. Upload the transaction history, review the mapped rows, then confirm the import.
Does AllInvestView handle Questrade dual-currency (CAD/USD) accounts?
Choose a reporting currency. The dashboard converts every holding and shows currency movement separately from market return.
Is the Questrade connection read only, and is it an aggregator?
There is no automatic connection for Questrade yet. You export your transaction history and upload the file, so nothing of yours is ever logged into.
Does it show my options with Greeks?
Yes. Every open contract is listed with delta, gamma, theta, vega and rho, next to the price of its underlying, with the premium collected and the days left to expiry.
Which cost basis methods can I choose?
FIFO, LIFO, HIFO and average cost. You pick the method on the tax report and the whole report is recalculated, so you can see what each one would cost you before you sell.
How are several currencies handled?
Each position keeps the currency it was bought in. The portfolio is then valued in the base currency you choose, using the rate for the day, so the currency move is part of the return you read.
Can I bring years of history from a file?
Yes. Export the full transaction history from Questrade and upload it. The importer reads the column layout, identifies the securities and shows every row for review before anything is saved, so your cost basis and your returns start from the complete record rather than from today.
What does the free plan cover?
One portfolio and 10 stock holdings, with no card. Bonds, options and custom assets are not counted against that. Broker sync, more portfolios and more holdings are on the paid plans.
